Craven County Schools Releasing Early Monday Due to Inclement Weather
School District Prioritizing Student and Staff Safety
Due to the inclement weather forecast, Craven County Schools will be releasing students early on Monday, January 23, 2023. All schools will dismiss at 12:00 PM. This decision was made to ensure the safety of students and staff as winter weather conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day.
The school district places the safety and well-being of its students and staff as its top priority. The decision to release early was made in consultation with local weather officials and transportation providers. The district will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as necessary.
Afternoon and Evening Activities Canceled
In addition to the early release, all after-school activities and evening events scheduled for Monday, January 23, 2023, have been canceled. This includes sporting events, extracurricular activities, and community meetings held on school grounds.
The district encourages parents and guardians to make arrangements for their children as school buses will not be running afternoon routes. Students who normally ride the bus home will need to be picked up from school by a parent or guardian at 12:00 PM.
Families Encouraged to Stay Informed
Families are encouraged to stay informed about weather conditions and school closures by visiting the Craven County Schools website or social media pages. The district will provide updates as they become available.
The school district understands that early dismissal may disrupt schedules and routines, but they believe it is the best decision to ensure the safety of everyone involved. They appreciate the cooperation and understanding of parents and guardians.
