Breaking News: Port Charlotte Man Shot and Killed

A Port Charlotte man was shot and killed in his home on Northview Street on Tuesday evening, September 27, 2022. The victim, identified as 45-year-old Timothy Higgins, was pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect, 32-year-old John Doe, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call about a shooting at Higgins' home around 7:30 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found Higgins lying on the floor of his living room with multiple gunshot wounds. Doe was found at the scene and taken into custody without incident.
Investigators are still investigating the motive behind the shooting, but they believe it may have been related to a domestic dispute. Doe and Higgins were reportedly in a relationship, and they had a history of domestic violence.
Higgins' death has shocked and saddened the Port Charlotte community. He was a well-known and respected member of the community, and his death is a tragic loss.
