They only know 2 cantrips and 4 spells at level 1, and they only learn 2 more spells per level after that. This means that Sorcerers can run out of spells very quickly and become very weak if they don't manage their resources carefully.
Wizard: The Most Versatile Caster
Wizard is a very versatile caster class in Baldur's Gate 3. They get access to the largest spell list in the game, which means they can learn a wide variety of spells to adapt to any situation. Wizards also have the ability to learn new spells from scrolls and spellbooks, which means they can constantly expand their spell list and access new and powerful spells as the game progresses. However, Wizards are not as powerful as Sorcerers in terms of raw damage output. They also have fewer hit points and are more squishy than Sorcerers. While Sorcerers are fire and forget, a Wizard may spend a lot of time re-casting buffs or setting up for big spells.
Which Class is Right for You?
Ultimately, the best class for you depends on your playstyle. If you want to play a spellcaster who can deal a lot of damage and control the battlefield, then Sorcerer is a good choice. Be aware that Sorcerers get strong at level 5 when they gain Fireball and Haste. But if you want to play a spellcaster who is more versatile and can adapt to any situation, then Wizard is a good choice.
